Finally some sound approach to Net Neutrality
Kudos to Congressman Jim Sensenbrenner (R-Wisconsin) whose approach to Net Neutrality is consistent with economic principles and the Federal Communications Commission’s findings regarding the state of competition in the U.S mobile telephony sector. In today’s statement to House Judiciary members, the congressional representative stated:
"I believe that antitrust law is the most appropriate way to deal with this problem – and antitrust law is not regulation," he said. "It exists to correct distortions of the free market, where monopolies or cartels have cornered the market, and competition is not being allowed to work. The antitrust laws can help maintain a free and open Internet."
It could not have been said better. In fact, his statement should become the guideline for all regulatory questions in markets where there are no clear signs of market failure.
